Nissan is a Japanese automobile manufacturer, which dates back to the founding of Kaishinsha Motorcar Works in Tokyo by Masujirō Hashimoto in 1911.
In 1914, the company's first car was produced.
In 1999, Renault formed the alliance Renault-Nissan with Nissan and has since then held 43.5 percent of the Nissan shares. In 2010, Daimler AG entered into a strategic partnership with Renault-Nissan and took a stake of 3.1 percent in Nissan. The remaining shares are in free float.
Since October 2016, Nissan has participated in 34% of Mitsubishi Motors, the sixth largest automotive manufacturer in Japan.
Today, the company produces not only cars but also vans, small transports and minibuses, as well as small and medium-heavy trucks.
