The French manufacturer of trucks Renault Trucks with its headquarters in Saint-Priest near Lyon has been part of the Volvo Group since 2001. From its foundation in 1978 until 2002, Renault Trucks operated under the name Renault Véhicules Industriels (French for "Renault Commercial Vehicles"); from 1992, the spelling was changed to Renault V. I., abbreviated to RVI. Until 1999, RVI produced trucks, among other things.
What Renault trucks are available?
Renault offers trucks in various weight classes with four- and six-cylinder engines:
Renault's heavy trucks are often used as tractor units or on construction sites.
The Renault Maxity
The Renault Maxity has been built since 2007 and functions as a light truck primarily for inner-city delivery traffic. Its model concept is based on the Nissan Cabstar and is equipped with the same engine and drive options as Nissan's sister model. The Maxity has a gross vehicle weight rating of 2.8 to 4.5 tons and is powered by two 2.5-liter and 3.0-liter engines. The units have an output of 112 hp (82 kW) to 152 hp (112 kW). A five-speed and a six-speed gearbox are available. The Renault Maxity is mainly used as a light transport truck and as a tipper. The Maxity is also frequently equipped with a work platform and is used for maintenance and repair work.
The T Series
The T Series trucks are suitable for heavy long-distance and construction site transport. They have a gross vehicle weight of up to 44 tons and a power output of 280 kW to 383 kW. The trucks in the series are among Renault's heaviest and most powerful trucks and are considered the manufacturer's flagships. The technical basis for the T series comes from the Volvo FH. The focus of the design development was on aerodynamics. A windshield inclined at twelve degrees contributes to lower air resistance and thus lower fuel consumption. The engines used are 6-cylinder DTI-11 and DTI-13 common-rail injection diesel engines with displacements of 10.8 liters and 12.8 liters respectively. Both engines meet the Euro 6 emissions standard. The T-series trucks are primarily suitable as semitrailer tractors, refrigerated trucks and heavy dump trucks.
The K Series
Whether it be quarries, mud or uneven ground, the Renault K-series has the perfect solution for challenging terrain. With their unique solutions and components subject to rigorous testing, these robust vehicles can take on any challenge. With a cyclonic air prefilter for dusty environments, a mechanical suspension of 8 to 10 tonnes with greased joints, a steel diesel tank and the semi-elliptical or parabolic suspensions, when it comes to challenging conditions, the Renault K is an absolute pro! The trucks take on difficult terrain with maximum traction, because the chassis, driveline and cab form one unit. The reduced turning radius, the tandem axle with double reduction and an angle of attack of 32 degrees make driving effortless.
The C Series
With its small turning radius and traction properties, the Renault C can access off-the-beaten-track locations that are difficult to reach for most standard vehicles. With an improved kerb weight, the truck can transport a high payload, all helped by aluminium tanks and rims, disc brakes and tandem axles with single reduction. And that's not all: the Renault C can be further upgraded with a wide range of features like brackets on the side frames for easier body assembly, PTO shafts for operating body implements while driving or when stationary and a rear overhang available in 50 mm increments. The Truck C can master all types of terrain and is supported by a differential lock between the wheels and between the axles. All models have a ground clearance of 312 mm under the front axle and up to 440 mm under the tank. The off-road mode guarantees smooth gear changes.
The D Series
Renault D Series trucks come with a wide range of chassis and body options, so that no matter the mission, Renault has the perfect vehicle for you! The engines developed by Renault have been specifically designed for urban and regional traffic, making them more fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly. The compact cab of the Renault D series also creates greater manoeuvrability and a smaller turning circle.
